Well, we have finally gotten settled in our new home in New York! (Well, we are almost settled…. still a little unpacking left to get done.) Brett and I feel so blessed to be here. We truly feel as though we are right where God wants us to be… and we love it here!!! It has been really difficult to leave family… we miss them like crazy, but in the end we need to be obedient… and we feel like we have been. Ashlyn still asks for her Grammy and Poppy everyday, but she has adjusted to New York life quite well! She has even started to pick up some of the local lingo… it cracks us up that it has happened to quickly. She calls purses “pocket books” now, because that is what everyone calls them here. She also corrects Brett and I if we say “Pop” and tells us that it is called “soda.” It is so fun being in a different culture… even though the differences are truly small… like names of grocery stores, etc…. in the first few weeks those small differences made me feel like I was in a different country! Now that I am getting used to everything, slowly starting to find my way around, and slowly getting our house finished… I am feeling right at home!
While it took time to get used to being in a different state… it took no time to get used to our new church! We felt right at home there from the start! The people there are amazing and are so warm and loving! We are truly blessed to be apart of such a wonderful church family. I have joined a small group of ladies, and have taken on a leadership role in the children’s department that I will start the first of November. The staff, board, and members of this church are awesome and Brett and I have been blown away by it all. There are mornings that we wake up and look at each other and say… is all of this real?!? It just feels like one big dream… I mean… when you are riding on the Staten Island Ferry, looking at the Statue of Liberty go by…. Surreal is the only appropriate word for it!
We are loving it here!!!
