Well… Ashlyn and Brett were very, very sick on Thanksgiving…. and they are actually still sick… poor things! So it was an odd Thanksgiving for the Williams family… pajamas and lots of meds! We were going to go to the Macy’s Day Parade with a family in the church, and then we were going to go to the house of another family in the church and have Thanksgiving Dinner… but with all the illness we had to cancel unfortunately. The family we were going to eat with actually brought us Thanksgiving Dinner!!! We feel so incredibly blessed by the loving church family we are a part of! Not only did we get invited over to share Thanksgiving with another family… but they took the time to bring us dinner when we could not come! I was so blessed…. to have a family be so thoughtful was very touching. God is so good!
Ashlyn’s First Show! December 1, 2008
We took Ashlyn to her first show in The City! We got to go see Cirque Du Soleil’s Wintuk with the seniors of the church, and she LOVED it! It is about a little boy’s search for snow… and people did stunts on skates, bikes, tight ropes, sleds, trapolines, etc. Of course there was tons of acting, signing, and dancing too. She was in awe the whole time… and at the end it was all topped off by tons of snow falling from the ceiling. She thought it was the best thing ever! We can’t wait to take her to another show… I can’t believe we are in New York! Now we just have to choose which show…
Trick or Treat 2008 December 1, 2008
Ashlyn enjoyed Trick or Treating for the first time this year on Halloween! She had so much fun… it was adorable! She was a butterfly and I actually scored her costume the week of at Old Navy for $5!!! Who can beat a deal like that?
The week before Halloween was so busy. We carved a pumpkin… Ashlyn chose the “Surprised face” for daddy to carve. We also made Halloween cookies for some friends and neighbors.. and Ashlyn got a huge kick out of that. She loves to cook and bake and when we are not doing it together in the real kitchen… she is pretending to cook at her play kitchen.
Well… another Halloween has passed… time is flying by!
Pumpkin Patch Out on the Island December 1, 2008
On Long Island there are TONS of pumpkin patches. We drove way out on the Island and found the perfect pumpkin patch to take Ashlyn to. She ran around looking at all the Pumpkins and chose her favorite. It was a fun family outing and soon we want to go pick apples at an apple orchard. Good times!
The City with Papa and G.G. December 1, 2008
Bill and Margaret got to come and visit a little over a month ago… I am so behind on my blogging! We loved having them here to visit and we had sucha great time! We miss them so much and cherished the time we had to hang out with them.
We went everywhere while they were here! We visited the city and took a double decker bus tour to see the whole thing! We saw the Statue of Liberty from the Satten Island Ferry, saw the skaters at Rockefeller Center, and we basically had a blast! We also went to the beach a couple of times and drove out on the island to see some of the cookl villages and huge houses out there. We even visited Fire Island.
So, needless to say, it was a busy week when they were here… especially since we had Ashlyn’s 2nd birthday party too! We had a blast! Come back soon GG and Papa!!!
First Trip to Central Park November 8, 2008
One Friday we took the train into the city together as a family, and we went to Central Park for the first time. We had a really good time! Ashlyn sang songs about choo choo trains the whole way to the city… and she loved the train and the subway! Central Park was gorgeous of course! Ashlyn loved the fountain and the boats.. she also loved all of the horse drawn carriages and the group of swing dancers that we ran into. We only had enough time to see a small part of the park… it is HUGE! We will have to go back again soon, we can’t wait to go to the zoo.
Our Trip to the Arboretum with Bill and Margaret! November 8, 2008
We went to visit the Arboretum while Bill and Margaret were in town… gorgeous! Here are some pictures… Long Island is so beautiful! It was so fun to have Bill and Margaret come to town, we had a blast! It had been way too long since we had seen them last, it was so good to see them! We miss them!
Ashlyn’s Two!!! November 8, 2008
Well… our baby girl is growing up… and it is freaking me out! How can she be two?!? It is crazy. She is the biggest blessing we have ever been given… and I never want to take that for granted. She is an incredible gift from God!
We had two birthday parties this year… one before we moved so that we could celebrate with my family, and then we had one on her birthday with Brett’s parents. Her first party was a Pooh party, the second was Minnie Mouse… and both were a blast! Ashlyn made out like a bandit for her birthday… thank you friends and family! She loved her gifts! She got a play kitchen with dishes and a grocery cart… so she pretends to shop and cook all of the time… cracks us up. She makes us cookies everyday.
Ashlyn can now sing the Birthday song… I should have recorded it and put it on here… I will have to do that! Anyway… Happy Birthday my sweet girl. You are the best!

Our New Home! October 26, 2008
While it took time to get used to being in a different state… it took no time to get used to our new church! We felt right at home there from the start! The people there are amazing and are so warm and loving! We are truly blessed to be apart of such a wonderful church family. I have joined a small group of ladies, and have taken on a leadership role in the children’s department that I will start the first of November. The staff, board, and members of this church are awesome and Brett and I have been blown away by it all. There are mornings that we wake up and look at each other and say… is all of this real?!? It just feels like one big dream… I mean… when you are riding on the Staten Island Ferry, looking at the Statue of Liberty go by…. Surreal is the only appropriate word for it!
We are loving it here!!!
On the Move… August 31, 2008
Alright, well the Williams family is on their way to New York! After a few car repairs and many errands we finally were able to start our road trip to NY on Friday afternoon. We have already traveled through Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana! We are currently in Indiana and plan to visit a Church that Brett’s dad pastored at when Brett was just a kid… so that will be a lot of fun! His sister was born here in Portage, Indiana, and Brett has many fond memories of living here. I can’t wait to see one of his many home towns!
Ashlyn has been amazing on the road! We were of course nervous to take such a long road trip with a toddler… but she is just the best baby ever ( : ) we are so blessed!), and with the technology that is out today road trips are tons easier than back in the day!!! Here is a picture of Ashlyn watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Brett’s i-pod with her elephant head phones! So funny!
